If your wine routine needs a little adventure, Musar Jeune Rouge is your ticket to Lebanon’s legendary Bekaa Valley—a region with an ancient winemaking heritage and one of the most fascinating wine stories in the world.
A LITTLE HISTORY: Château Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, inspired by Lebanon’s centuries-old wine culture and his experiences in Bordeaux. His son, Serge Hochar, later became the driving force behind Musar’s distinctive, low-intervention style, famously continuing to make wine through Lebanon’s Civil War; in 1984, Decanter named Serge its first “Man of the Year.” Château Musar
WHAT IS MUSAR JEUNE?
Think of it as the younger, fresher, more rebellious sibling of Château Musar’s famous age-worthy wines. The Jeune range was introduced for drinking young, showcasing vibrant fruit from Bekaa Valley vineyards without oak interfering.
THE GRAPES: Musar Jeune Rouge typically blends Mediterranean-friendly varieties such as Cinsault and Syrah with Cabernet Sauvignon, creating an expressive, juicy and full of personality. For example, the 2019 was 50% Cinsault, 35% Syrah and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
AROMAS: Think ripe cherries 🍒, blueberries 🫐, juicy dark berries and violets 🌸—fruit-forward and inviting rather than heavy or overly oaky.
THE VIBE: Fresh • Fruity • Medium-to-full bodied • Textured • Vibrant acidity • Unoaked
This is a red for someone who wants plenty of flavor without feeling like they're drinking a mouthful of oak. Musar's natural, non-interventionist philosophy only enhances its adventurous personality.
